JOB LOCATION: US (Florida Keys)
START DATE: October 2024 with rolling hires (INDEF)
PAY: $500/day(1) + per diem(2) + expenses(3)
Employment Type: Part-Time Contractor
(1) Day rate is based on an 8-hour shift
(2) $59 per diem for food expenses
(3) Covered expenses include flights/travel and lodging
Employer is a US private security company seeking security boat captains to provide maritime security in support of DoD operations in the Florida Keys. Ideal candidates are former US Coast Guard with an active US Coast Guard Captain’s License (see details in minimum qualifications section below). Employer will also consider applicants who are current or former Maritime Law Enforcement at the local, state, or federal level and former US Military personnel if the candidate has an active US Coast Guard Captain’s License in addition to having operational maritime security experience.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Security boat captain will operate a 37′ Axopar or a 25′ SAFE Boat Defender
– Security boat captain will work 8 hour shifts, 7-days per week for length of rotation (Rotations may vary from 30-90 days)
– Coordination with local, state, federal, DoD and or military assets operating in the AO may be necessary
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (please do not apply if you do not meet ALL of the following):
– US Citizens only
– MUST have a OUPV (6-pack), 25 ton master, 50 ton master, or 100 ton master
– Have experience operating SAFE Boats or similar style watercraft with twin screw outboards, inboards, or I/O’s.
– Only open to US Coast Guard and US Military veterans OR current/former law enforcement officers who have experience in maritime security operations
– DD-214 with Honorable Discharge (if prior military)
– Must be physically fit and able to pass a physical fitness test
– Must be able to occasionally run or sprint, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
– Able to swim in open waters
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
– Active TWIC Card
– Former US Coast Guard veterans
– Possess a USCG approved maritime security certification (VSO, CSO, or FSO)
– Current or retired law enforcement with LEOSA H.R. 218
– Have current local, state or federal law enforcement connections with maritime units or US Navy / Coast Guard units operating in the area
– Qualified candidates who currently reside in Florida
